Getting ready for summer, Ken McCloskey
has come up with a simple but effective awning to provide shade over the offside window and fridge vents of
his A'van. It is attached to the van just above the larger side window
via a sewn-in rope in the awning and
a length of sail track on the van.
The other end of the awning is tied down to the ground with four
hooked elastic ropes. When not
in use it rolls up neatly over the window and does not need to be removed when
closing down the van.
The material is that used for covering outside furniture chairs and was sourced
from Clark Rubber in Fyshwick.
Jurkiewicz Canvas Workshop, also in
Fyshwick, stitched in the rope, the hems and fitted four eyelets along the bottom.
Colour matched to the A'van side stripes, it is
particularly attractive, and most importantly it does not obscure the view from inside.
