An Alternative Table ArrangementKen & Lyn Greenwood (2564) have adapted their table to be more user friendly! We are indebted to Ken for providing us with the following photographs and construction detail. Ken and Lyn's A'van is a Cruiser 5. This layout has the kitchen up front with the living area at the rear. The seating area converts to having a single bed along each side wall, with a chest of drawers/bedside table on the rear wall between the two beds. The folding legs have been removed from the underside of the table and one half of a pair of drop hinges (Bunnings) have been screwed along the top rear side as shown. The other half of each hinge is screwed to the underside of the drawers top flange. Drop hinges on table top and underside of drawers top flange A metal bracket fabricated from strip aluminium has a "notch" cutout as shown and is screwed to the underside of the table, centrally near the front. The front of the table is held up by a single wooden leg having a screw in the top which engages with the notch in the bracket. Securing screw in top of leg and locating bracket on underside of table In use, the bottom of the leg sits centrally on the floor... well away from the A'vanners feet! At other times, the leg is removed and the table drops down as shown. When access is required to the drawers, the table top just slides sideways from the hinges and is stowed with the leg between the bed and the drawers. Hinged table in use and stowed at other times
