Rear Locker Stowage
An inventory of what we normally carry in this space reveals:-
Items Normally Carried In Rear Locker (plus two pillows)
The table is particularly useful as it includes four seats of the right height, all of which fold up into an easily accommodated case. The two folding chairs pack easily, and are used at A'van Club Gathering nattering sessions.
We use sleeping bags instead of a
mattress protector, sheets and doona as they are far easier to make up when we
want to go to bed, and far easier to roll up in the morning. When not in
use, the bags (with sheet inner linings) roll up neatly and act as back rests on the rear seat. To store
our pillows, we have made a timber tray
800 mm wide, 575 mm front to back and 70 mm deep. The tray and underside
of the hinged timber seat support have been lined with self adhesive Cover-it to avoid any tearing of the pillows on
the timber. The pillows neatly lie side by side in the tray.
Pillows In Rear Locker Tray
The rear seat is lifted only to get or
replace the pillows. All other "stuff" is accessed as usual via
the outside access door.
To avoid the locker contents from sliding
around whilst travelling, the floor and sides of the locker have been
lined with carpet as can be seen
in the photographs. By partitioning the
space under the pillow tray, the table and chairs can now be separately taken out as needed, which is much
easier than when everything is just piled on top of everything else!
