Cutlery Drawer Improvements
All we have done is take a standard plastic cutlery holder and cut one of the long troughs off it, putting the spare trough at the back of the drawer (left photograph). The holders are designed to fit into a drawer snugly, but by removing about 1.5" the insert becomes slidable on the two simple tracks screwed to the inside of the drawer sides (right photograph). This means that a fair amount of what's on the bottom deck can be accessed without removing the insert. Obviously, the most-used gear goes in the top holder, next-most-used in the front of the bottom, and the things that you have to have but never use go in the back under the top holder. The drawer is quite deep enough to handle the double-up.
We keep our crockery, tumblers etc. in the second drawer and electric frypan,
plug-in hotplate, saucepans and frypans in the bottom cupboard, along with a
perspex splash-back we use to protect the kitchen curtains when cooking.
