Modifications to the A'van WardrobeIn addition to replacing the standard rail with a rack of hooks, Allen Kerr has further modified the design by adding a locking bar to prevent the clothes hangers from bouncing off the hooks [which sometime occurs when driving too fast over speed bumps, driveways, etc.], thus sending the garments to the floor and upsetting ???. The locking system consists of a piece of aluminium channel pivoted at one end of the rack and swung across and over the hangers for travelling. The locking bar is held securely in the locked position by small spring clips. Kerr's Klothing Kabinet ... Allen has also replaced the original sliding stays which are "supposed" to hold the wardrobe lid in the open position, with a telescoping bar type stay with a push button lock that engages in a selection of holes to ensure a positive hold. An alternative solution to this problem was the installation by Murray Nash (2650) of a small gas strut to hold the lid open.
