Increased Roof Wind SecurityIn extreme conditions however some members of the A'van Club have reported momentarily seeing daylight between the two roof sections as wind gusts buffeted their A'van. One member's A'van suffered considerable wind damage whilst parked outside their home. Fortunately there was no one in the A'van at the time but the roof and sides were up, all roof latches were in place and the doors and windows were all closed.
Four 3 mm thick stainless steel plates have threaded centre holes to take a stainless steel eye bolt. On each side near the roof apex, one plate is fixed to the outside of the front roof with a second plate fixed to the inside of the rear roof - aligned with the first plate. Once the roof and sides are up, the eye bolts are screwed through the outside plate into the threaded hole of the inside plate, effectively pinning the two roof sections together without causing any distortion of the roof side extrusion.
Screwing in the eye bolt on either side is much
easier on a Sportliner than on the higher Aliner models.
